Round 1 of Picture of the Year 2023 voting is open!

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2023 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eighteenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2023) to produce a single Picture of the Year.
Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.
For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and top 5% of most popular images in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just three images to become the Picture of the Year.
Round 1 will end on UTC.

Mappa del cimitero del Piratello

- Grazie per la mappa del Piratello! Confrontando quelle indicate lì con quelle già mappate su Wikidata e/o OSM (visibili qui) direi che mancano i Tozzoni (arcata 32), Ginnasi (31), Meloni, Paolini, Luzzi, Mancurti, Campagnoli, Baroncini. In aggiunta ci sono vari monumenti / opere d'arte che meriterebbero foto su .

- Sì, molto! :) Anche quello di Ferrara, sperodi vedere un giorno... (Arianna ci aveva promesso di farci una visita guidata da lei, che è storica dell'arte e del posto!) Ho fotografato un po' quello di Cento, ho anche la cartina fotografata, carico le foto quando ho tempo. Poi non so se ti serve, ma recentemente ho indicato su Wikidata i cimiteri monumentali emilianoromagnoli, grazie a questo bel progetto con schede per ogni singolo cimitero storico e/o monumentale (in alcuni casi sono anche indicate le sepolture illustri, ad esempio ho usato la scheda del cimitero di Cento per andare a caccia delle 3 tombe illustri da non perdere).
- Tornando al Piratello, per ora vedo che ci sono già le foto dei monumenti Tozzoni e Ginnasi, non so se servono. Una tantum (talk) 09:09, 3 March 2025 (UTC)

[edit]Ecco, dato che mi faccio prendere dai miei deliri... un po' di nicchia, diciamo, e non so mai con chi condividere queste scoperte: la mappa del Bologna F.C. in Certosa, in basso a destra della mappa interattiva ci sono dei poveri calciatori la cui tomba non è ancora stata localizzata. - Molto interessante! Potrebbe essere uno spunto interessante per un mapathon/editathon! Per curiosità sono andato a guardare quanti calciatori del bologna hanno place of burial (P119): https://w.wiki/DMTb .
- Ce ne sono molti ssociati al monumentale, alcuni hanno addirittura l'elemento dedicato alla tomba (es. Grave of Bulgarelli (Q126417658)), ma nessuno di questi ha le coordinate precise. Danysan1 (talk) 09:23, 9 March 2025 (UTC)
- Questa cosa mi ha fatto venire notare che attualmente su WD ci sono 822 tombe del monumentale mappate come entità a sè ma senza coordinate: https://w.wiki/DMTs .

- Intanto in https://w.wiki/DMUQ ho filtrato fra queste le 163 con qualcuno associato come sepolto e con un immagine su commons (molte delle quali fatte da te vedo =D)(da cui si potrebbe ottenere le coordinate approssimative dai dati exif!) Danysan1 (talk) 09:44, 9 March 2025 (UTC)
- Si, ne ho fatte un sacco, vado a periodi e faccio pause anche di mesi ma è vero che è un'ossessione ricorrente (il mio lato neuroatipico, probabilmente)! Quando riesco arricchisco proprio quel cluster di item importati da Commons su wikidata dal buon Marcok, molte info sono rimaste su Commons e possono aiutare ad arricchire quegli elementi. Per le coordinate pero' avevo notato che nella zona della Certosa il mio gps del cellulare sballa molto spesso, purtroppo, anche di 50 metri e oltre, il che rende dubbiosi i dati raccolti. Non ho dubbi che con un gps più performante si possa fare tanto. Anche per alcune coordinate delle tombe del sito Storia e Memoria di Bologna (quello ufficiale della Certosa) sono un po' in dubbio, perché mi sembrano più legate alla posizione su Google map e quindi spostate quel tanto da essere inutilizzabili su openstreetmap, oltre che in odore di copyright e forse a volte approssimative, non ne ho la certezza che siano precise. (qui avevo fatto un import singolo di test prendendo le coordinate da [1]). Ma forse si potrebbero trasporre comunque andando ad occhio (es), anche se non so se veramente è una buona idea: usando metodi diversi di approssimazione si rischia di mettere una tomba adiacente (es x a sx di y) dal lato opposto (es x a dx di y) . La soluzione migliore sarebbe quella di basarsi sull'euristica, magari partendo da questi esempi di Panopticon soprattutto del Chiostro terzo dove tutte le tombe sono monumentali e meritano un item su Wikidata: partire da lì per trasporre tutte le coordinate del chiostro in modo empirico, cliccando sulla mappa di OSM per ricavare le rispettive coordinate soprattutto rispettando la posizione relativa dei monumenti tra loro. Tu che ne pensi? Non è divertente come mappare in persona ma potrebbe risolvere almeno in parte il problema cronico della mancanza di coordinate. In attesa di mapathon veri :)
